Schedule:
We will have an all club/all teams meeting Thursday January 22 at 8:30pm. This is to get player wrist band, player credential to get into the park and a club photo. If you can’t make the meeting you will get your wrist band and credential at the globe outside ESPN before your first game.
I recommend downloading the app tourney machine to your mobile device. Once schedule is available you can access it through Tourney Machine.
Teams are guaranteed three pool games. After three pool games, all teams are re-ranked. If you win your cross over game (fourth game played), the team will play 6 games total, 2 on Friday, 2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. If you loose the crossover game (fourth game played), team will only play 5 games. 2 on Friday, 2 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday.

Non-refundable $50 fee due October 1. Remain fees of $325 will be due by tournament date. If tournament is canceled for any reason all fees will be credited. If you withdraw from the tournament before two weeks of the tournament, any fees minus the $50 deposit will be credited. If you withdraw from the tournament within two weeks of the tournament, there will be no refund of fees. Payment plans are available.
ESPN WWS Entry:
All non-players coming into the wide world complex must purchase an entry pass ahead of time.
FAQs:
What is the surface?
Fields are GRASS. You can wear cleats, turfs or sneaks, though we would recommend cleats.
Do we (parents/friends/family) need to buy a pass to get into the ESPN WWS complex?
Yes, you need to purchase an admission pass for ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Do we need to buy a parking pass?
No, you do not need to pay for parking. There is an option to buy a parking pass that puts you closer to the entrance. Your choice-it is not required.
Are the offering theme park tickets?
Yes, here is a link for discounted tickets. As soon as we have the link, we will send it out.
Can I bring a cooler/food into the ESPN WWS?
You cannot bring in a large cooler or a cooler backpack. You can bring snacks in your bag or small personal cooler.
Can I go in and out of the facility?
Yes! You can come and go as much as you want! You can leave that cooler in the car and go have a picnic lunch and then come back in.
How do I fly with my field hockey stick?
You will have to check your stick. Most players use a stick bag to put their stick in. If you have a teammate who is driving, you can ask them to take your stick. You can also group sticks in a stick bag so each person isn’t having to check a bag.
I only see three games listed? I thought we had 5-6 games?
You are seeing our pool games listed. After our pool games, every team in the age group will be reranked and placed in a new pool. We will have one more game Saturday and one or 2 games Sunday depending on our result from our second game on Saturday.
How/When will we know our fourth game?
Fastest way is to check the tourney machine app. It will post there first. Coaches will also message out as soon as possible.
How do we know what color to wear?
If we are listed first/top on tourney machine, we are in white jerseys and white socks. If we are listed second, we are in navy jersey and navy socks. ALWAYS bring both color jerseys and socks to the fields!!!!
Can we go to the parks?
Yes! We recommend going after your games for the day; however we know some teams play only afternoon games. You can go in the morning, but be mindful of drinking plenty of fluids and minimizing walking.
What if it is cold, can I wear something underneath my jersey?
Yes. It just must match the color of the jersey. If you are wearing a white jersey, the under shirt must be white, etc.
Do parents need to be there for pregame warm up, talk and/or debrief?
No, please remain away from the team when the team is having team time. This includes pregame talk, warm up, and post game debrief and cool down. Your player will find you when he or she is finished.
Is there a way for parents to communicate with each other or the coach, besides setting up a group chat?
Yes! Download the LeagueApps Play application to your phone. You can message through the app with teammates and coaches.
Should I be emailing college coaches?
If you are a player 9th-12th grade and interested in playing in college and have an idea of which schools you’d attend, then yes you should email coaches prior to the tournament. You do not need to put in your schedule. They have access to that info. You just need to tell them your team name and jersey number.
