Maren and Ryan Langford established FDL FHC in 2009 to provide field hockey players with more opportunities to play locally. Three years later, the club expanded to travel in order to answer the demand in Ann Arbor. Now nine years later, they are developing players from ages six and up. The oldest are graduating, playing in college and giving back to FDL FHC.
Maren and Ryan have combined twenty-two years of collegiate coaching at Southwest Missouri State, Appalachian State, Temple University, James Madison University, The University of Michigan, Princeton University and Bucknell University. Ryan is currently the assistant field hockey coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Michigan.
They both played for the United States of America. Maren tallied sixty nine international appearances on the Women's team and Ryan claimed twenty six international experiences on the Men's team. Both have experienced an Olympic preparation as a player and participated in other international competition including a World Cup, a World Cup Qualifier, Pan American Games and a Champion's Challenge. They understand what it takes to be the best and how to get there.
Maren is a graduate of Princeton University '06 with a teaching certification, a MS degree in Psychology with a specialization in Sport and a Level 2 coaching certification. Ryan graduated from Appalachian State and has a Level 3 (highest) coaching certification & a Federation of International Hockey Coaching Certification. Both have current international exposure through USA Field Hockey: U19, U21 National Team Coaching and as the Women's National Team Travel Manager.
Both Maren and Ryan have a vast wealth of knowledge of top-level field hockey. They are capable of talent identification, technical skills analysis and fundamental teaching. Their coaching experience spans the spectrum of basic to international hockey.
